Although most of us can hardly believe it (especially us here in the southeast – can you say six whole inches of snow last week?!) spring is on the way. That means hundreds of organization tips, spring cleaning blog posts, and makeover inspiration pins are popping up all over the internet. Now is the best time to get your home in order, and we’re starting with our favorite room – the closet! We know how easy it is to put off de-cluttering your closet because no one ever sees it but you, so this month we’ll be sharing our favorite, easy tips for tackling closet organization.
The best and easiest way to start organizing your closet is by getting rid of clothes that you don’t wear anymore! It’s hard to throw out that perfect pair of jeans that are now too small for you, or your favorite old t-shirt that’s more holes than cotton, but it has to be done. A good rule of thumb if you’re not sure what to get rid of is if you haven’t worn it in over a year, throw it away or donate it. Another good rule to go by is to look at each piece of clothing, and if you wouldn’t buy it again today then get rid of it.
This is a great way to downsize your closet, and after you do it you’ll already feel like your closet is much bigger than before, making the idea of further organization less overwhelming.
